From Survival to Transformation: Using Hypnotherapy to Unlock Grief That Feels “Stuck”

Grief does not follow a timeline — yet many individuals feel frustrated, ashamed, or broken when they remain emotionally “stuck” long after a loss. While traditional talk-based approaches are valuable, they do not always access the subconscious patterns that keep grief frozen in place.
In this practical session, Linda explores how hypnotherapy can gently and ethically help clients move from survival mode into meaningful transformation. Drawing from lived experience, professional training, and client work, Linda will explain why some grief lingers and how subconscious beliefs shape recovery.
Attendees will gain insight into integrating hypnotherapy safely within grief work, recognizing when clients are ready for deeper interventions, and supporting lasting emotional release. This session is ideal for hypnotherapists, coaches, and helping professionals seeking to expand their impact with clients navigating loss.

Bio
Linda Marshall is a Certified Grief Specialist, Life Coach, Master ASIST Trainer, and Hypnotherapist based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is the founder of It’s My Grief – Coaching & Hypnotherapy and the author of It’s My Grief & I’ll Cry If I Want To, a powerful and deeply personal account of loss, resilience, and rebuilding.
Linda’s professional work is rooted in lived experience. After becoming a single mother while attending university full-time, she rebuilt her life and career, rising to an executive-level position in private industry. Just as life felt stable and successful, tragedy struck. In 2011, she lost her partner to suicide — a devastating loss that reshaped her life and purpose.
Determined to turn pain into purpose, Linda returned to Halifax and immersed herself in the study of grief recovery and suicide intervention. She became a Certified Grief & Life Coach, later advancing to Master ASIST Trainer, equipping first responders, healthcare professionals, military members, educators, and community leaders with the skills to intervene and support individuals at risk of suicide. During the pandemic, she expanded her impact by delivering virtual grief workshops to organizations and the public.
Recognizing that many clients remained emotionally “stuck,” Linda expanded her practice to include hypnotherapy, integrating subconscious healing techniques into her work with grief and life transitions. Her approach focuses on deep inner work to help clients move from survival to transformation.
In 2023, Linda delivered her first TEDx talk in Toronto, further amplifying her message of hope, resilience, and empowerment.
Today, Linda is passionate about helping individuals and professionals understand grief differently — not as something to “get over,” but as something to move through with courage, compassion, and support. Through coaching, hypnotherapy, training, and speaking, she helps others rebuild their lives with strength, clarity, and renewed possibilities.
