Oops! When What You Offer Doesn’t Land and Receiving Feels Awkward

Every day, we exchange words, emotions, and actions that shape our relationships. While some interactions flow easily, others lead to misunderstanding or rejection. This workshop explores the “hidden economy” of human exchanges, showing how the way we give, receive, and respond influences connection and communication in both work and life.

The focus is on improving these interactions in practical ways. You’ll learn a simple framework for understanding client relationships, communicating needs clearly, and adjusting your approach so your offerings land more effectively. Through interactive exercises, you’ll gain tools to navigate everyday exchanges with greater clarity and impact.

Bio

Dale Turnbull is a Metaphors of Movement Trainer and Coach, originally from London and now based in Montreal, who helps people explore the metaphors, stories, and symbols that shape, and sometimes limit, their lives and businesses. With over 12 years of corporate experience in learning and development and a deep background in NLP, Hypnosis, IEMT, and Provocative Change Works, Dale brings a relaxed, interactive style to his sessions, making complex change processes feel accessible and meaningful.

Dale’s journey into change work began in the corporate world, where he was passionate about helping people excel at their jobs. Yet he noticed that even motivated employees and clients often struggled to create the changes they wanted. Seeking a more effective way to impact others, Dale immersed himself in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, training directly with John Grinder and Richard Bandler, the founders of the field. This experience opened a new world of possibilities, teaching him that effective communication is measured by the response it elicit, and that flexibility, not rigid scripts, is key to meaningful change.

Since then, Dale has guided countless clients through challenges such as fears, anxieties, and phobias, using a tailored, client-focused approach. His work led him to Metaphors of Movement, a method that uncovers the unconscious structures shaping clients’ experiences. By visualizing these patterns and exploring them through metaphor, Dale helps clients gain awareness, feel deeply understood, and create lasting shifts in perspective and behavior.

Beyond his technical expertise, Dale is known for his approachable, friendly style. He combines change work with a sense of play and curiosity, believing that life, and the process of transformation, should be engaging and human. Through his workshops and coaching, Dale empowers other practitioners to bring this nuanced, flexible approach into their own work, enhancing their ability to solve the “puzzle” of human experience and create real, meaningful impact.
